The case of Gisèle Pelicot drew attention from both French and international media: the retired French woman who was drugged by her husband and raped by more than 70 men over ten years, waived her anonymity and agreed to make the trial public. The final hearing happened in December 2024, and the names of the convicted rapists were released.

The project Without Her Knowing employs the facts from the Pelicots' case as a platform for narrative and aims to interrogate the environment in which Gisèle Pelicot lived. Staged photographs are combined with documentary imagery in order to recreate a beautiful yet suffocating world of a “perfect” marriage with invisible abuse. The photo story delves into the geographical and historical landscape of Provence, reflecting on the cultural underpinnings of the neglect of a female body's agency in Western society.
